SEO – promotion
Moscow City Guide

SEO – promotion

SEO promotion work started in October 2020, at the site launch stage. We built a strategy from scratch: from the semantic core and structure to technical optimization and a scalable content system. During the project implementation, we managed to achieve sustainable growth in organic traffic, which exceeded 110,000 unique users per month.

Stages of work on the project

Stage 1
Foundation and audit
  • We conducted a full SEO audit of the site: from technical optimization to structure and usability
  • We studied competitors: from niche portals to international resources on real estate, tourism and gastronomy
  • We formed the core of the project: semantics for each direction - towers, restaurants, real estate, events, rent, news, etc.
  • We identified key growth areas: priority sections, page types, audience behavior patterns
  • We developed a promotion strategy with a focus on scaling and multilingualism
Stage 2
Technical enhancement
  • Optimized loading speed and stability of the site, reduced technical losses
  • We set up correct indexing and a site map for the SEO structure
  • Implemented friendly URLs, redirects and canonicalization rules
  • Implemented micro-markup: for organizations, events, real estate, articles
  • Checked and eliminated possible duplicates, 404 errors, invalid pages and technical conflicts
Stage 3
Content expansion
  • Created hundreds of new pages for search queries: from towers and restaurants to event cards and news
  • We developed a structure of tag and filter pages for different search scenarios
  • Wrote SEO-optimized texts that take into account the audience's intent and behavior
  • Conducted end-to-end optimization of meta tags, headings, alt tags and internal links
  • Prepared texts and structure for future localization (EN, CN, AR) taking into account language features
Stage 4
Increasing authority
  • Built an external promotion strategy with an emphasis on authoritative sources
  • Published articles, reviews and expert materials on specialized resources: urban studies, business, real estate
  • Launched crowd marketing on forums, social networks and professional communities
  • Monitored the link profile, eliminated toxic donors and strengthened domain trust
  • Achieved growth in brand awareness and organic mentions
Stage 5
Analytics and behavioral signals
  • Set up advanced web analytics, events, goals and heatmaps
  • Tracked user behavior: entry points, viewing depth, bounce pages
  • Improved page structure, navigation blocks, filters and interaction scenarios
  • Increased engagement and shortened the path to the target action (subscription, application, booking)
  • Regularly adapted UX for mobile devices and introduced behavioral adjustments
Stage 6
Dynamics and scaling
  • We conduct monthly monitoring of positions, traffic and conversions
  • We continue to expand the semantics: towers, districts, international sections, brands, urban life themes
  • We prepare and localize English, Chinese and Arabic versions of the portal
  • We respond to seasonality and trends: we create content on current events and agendas
  • We maintain a high growth rate to maintain leadership in search results and cover new target segments
What we are especially strong in
We create digital platforms that become entry points to the city’s infrastructure and unite the interests of residents, businesses and tourists.
Architecture and content

We form a scalable website structure that is easy to navigate for all types of audiences. Content is created at the intersection of SEO and user scenarios: current news, guides, descriptions of towers, restaurants and events.

Technologies and SEO

We implement a powerful technical base: we optimize speed, set up indexing, meta tags, micro-markup. This approach ensures stable traffic growth and ease of use on any device.

Background and objectives of the project

Prerequisites

At the time of the project’s launch in 2020, the market lacked a unified information and service portal covering the entire Moscow-City cluster and shaping a comprehensive understanding of the future business district — Greater City.

Despite the active development of the area itself, the digital landscape remained fragmented:

  • There was no centralized database of real estate — neither residential nor commercial.
  • Up-to-date information about restaurants, events, news, services, and opportunities in the area was scattered across various websites and social media platforms.
  • Foreign users had no convenient English-language resource offering reliable information about the location.
  • There was no platform uniting the interests of businesses, investors, tenants, tourists, and residents.

All these factors laid the groundwork for launching a full-fledged ecosystem — combining the functions of a media outlet, directory, catalog, advertising, and business platform — with a focus on scalability and an international audience.

SEO Objectives

From the very beginning, SEO was viewed as one of the key channels for audience acquisition and project growth. Our team was tasked with the following goals:

  • Ensure consistent growth in organic traffic through in-depth semantic research, technical optimization, and the development of a large-scale SEO structure.
  • Establish a comprehensive digital presence across all areas: real estate, restaurants, events, guides, and business services.
  • Unite the diverse interests of the target audience — users, partners, businesses, and expats — within a single platform.
  • Support the development of website functionality, including booking systems, personal accounts, and integrations with messengers and CRM systems.
  • Create a solid foundation for multilingual expansion targeting an international audience (EN, CN, AR).

For us, SEO is not about “keywords” and “rankings.” It’s about architecture, logic, user experience, and content that drives specific actions — booking, subscription, inquiry. In this project, we integrated SEO into every layer of the product — from structure to design and CRM.

Starting point

As of October 2020, when active SEO efforts began, the website was in its early stage — core templates were in place, the initial structure had been launched, and the first pages were published. However, from an SEO perspective, the platform had virtually no presence in search results:

As of October 2020, when active SEO work began, the website was still in its early development stage — core templates were ready, the initial structure had been launched, and the first pages were live. However, from an SEO standpoint, the platform had virtually no visibility in search results:

Initial Conditions:

  • Organic traffic was negligible, with fewer than 500 monthly visits from search engines.
  • The number of indexed pages was under 100, most of which were technical or incomplete.
  • There was no semantic core — no systematic approach to keyword collection and distribution.
  • Many key sections (real estate, events, restaurants, towers) were either missing or still being filled.
  • The technical condition of the site required optimization: slow loading speed, lack of structured data, indexing issues, and poorly organized URLs.
  • Analytics and goals were not configured — there was no data on user behavior or performance metrics.

Moreover, the site’s structure did not account for the behavior patterns of the target audience, was not SEO-optimized, and did not support multilingual scaling or expansion across thematic areas.

Key Challenges:

  • Build search visibility from scratch in a highly competitive niche.
  • Design an architecture capable of supporting tens of thousands of pages, including filter-based and tag pages.
  • Simultaneously address content, technical, and product SEO without slowing down development and content production.
  • Coordinate efforts in parallel with the expansion of site functionality and rising UX demands.

MCG is a living organism. We monitor user behavior, search trends, and the evolving urban agenda on a daily basis. Thanks to a flexible system of tags, filters, and automation, we can create dozens of new pages in a single day — and start seeing traffic within a week.

Stages of SEO promotion

SEO promotion of the portal was built as a systematic, multi-stage process covering technical, content, analytical, and strategic components. The focus was not on quick position boosts but on creating a sustainable SEO infrastructure — scalable, trend-adaptive, and delivering long-term traffic.

Audit & Strategy

At the initial stage, we carried out a thorough analysis and developed a step-by-step plan:

  • Technical SEO audit: indexation, URL structure, internal linking, redirects, duplicates, 404s, and other barriers.
  • Competitor analysis: review of aggregators and niche platforms in real estate, dining, events, and urban culture.
  • Target audience profiling: segmentation (residents, tenants, businesses, tourists, expats) and search behavior mapping.
  • SEO architecture development: structuring categories, subcategories, listings, and filter-based pages.
  • Roadmap creation: prioritizing sections — first towers, restaurants, and events; then blog, rentals, listings, and B2B.

Result: A 12–18 month SEO strategy approved, scalable to 30,000+ pages and ready for international expansion.

Technical Optimization

Following strategic planning, we moved on to removing technical barriers that were hindering growth:

  • Page speed optimization: image compression, cache implementation, and frontend restructuring for faster rendering on mobile devices.
  • Indexation setup: refining robots.txt, generating sitemap.xml, implementing canonical rules, and excluding technical pages from crawling.
  • SEO-friendly URLs: implementing clean, human-readable URLs with a logical hierarchy that supports both SEO and user navigation.
  • Structured data (schema.org): added for news, events, organizations, real estate listings, articles, and restaurant pages — to enhance search engine presentation.
  • Analytics and goal tracking integration: Yandex.Metrica, Google Analytics, and tracking for forms, buttons, calls, bookings, and subscriptions.

Result: The site became technically ready for SEO growth — indexation stabilized, loading speed improved, and behavioral metrics began to show positive dynamics.

Semantic Optimization

We assembled a large-scale semantic core covering all key areas of the portal:

  • Query clustering by topics: towers, restaurants, events, real estate, rentals, parties, offices, parking, infrastructure, and more.
  • Search intent mapping: each query was assigned a dedicated landing point — whether a listing, filter page, tag, section, or article.
  • Page structure development for major segments:
    – dedicated landing pages for towers,
    – restaurant categories,
    – dynamic event pages,
    – separate sections for rental, purchase, booking, and advertising.
  • Preparation for multilingual expansion (EN, CN, AR): localized semantics and culturally adapted terminology.

Result: A scalable SEO infrastructure was created, allowing for growth without the need for manual setup of each page.

Content & Structure Expansion

Content development ran in parallel with technical and semantic work, and included:

  • Creation of unique SEO-driven content for listing cards, collections, filters, and thematic articles.
  • Development of new sections and pages:
    – restaurants and cuisines,
    – event listings and guides,
    – towers and residential complexes,
    – articles and reviews,
    – corporate and B2B services.
  • Automated generation of tag- and filter-based pages (e.g. “Restaurants with panoramic views,” “Class A towers,” “Events in July”).
  • Bulk deployment of dynamic meta tags and headers, incorporating object name, category, type, date, location, etc.
  • Comprehensive internal linking: connecting cards, articles, events, collections, and commercial pages.

Result: The project grew from 100–200 pages to over 6,000 fully optimized SEO pages — and continues to expand on a regular basis.

Off-Page SEO & Authority Building

To increase search engine trust and domain authority, we implemented a targeted off-page promotion strategy:

  • Media publications and press mentions, including backlinks and brand references in industry-specific media outlets.
  • Crowd marketing on forums and platforms frequented by our target audience (real estate, urban development, events).
  • Partnership backlinks from relevant business websites and directories.
  • Social media and Telegram accounts, generating referral traffic and behavioral signals.

Result: A natural backlink profile was established, brand awareness and MCG’s domain authority began to grow steadily.

Behavioral Analytics & UX Optimization

Alongside traffic growth, we focused on improving user engagement and conversions:

  • Goal tracking in analytics: form submissions, bookings, click-throughs, subscriptions, messenger interactions.
  • Heatmap and scroll map analysis, as well as exit point tracking.
  • User journey improvements: reducing steps to conversion, adding widgets, micro-conversions, and smart pop-up prompts.
  • Mobile-first adaptation: restructuring content blocks and navigation for smartphones — the platform’s primary traffic source.

Result: Increased average session duration, improved page depth, and a sharp decline in bounce rate.

The most valuable outcome of this project is not just traffic growth — it’s that SEO has become an integral part of the business model. Content and structure directly drive revenue: attracting partners, filling restaurants, and selling real estate. This is the true purpose of strategic SEO — to deliver real results, not just reports.

A fully supported editorial and SEO infrastructure is maintained — ready for international scaling

When we started, there was no search traffic, no positions, no clear structure. Today, MCG is tens of thousands of pages, a stable organic flow and a channel that generates hundreds of applications per month. We built an SEO infrastructure from scratch that can scale without overloads and failures.
